It was founded way back in 1950 by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts. Since its inception, Dunkin’ Donuts has been growing and expanding rapidly as a chain-based doughnut and coffee company. Therefore, its owner has opened over 11,000 restaurants and franchises worldwide. In addition, the company has consistently used the slogan “America Runs on Dunkin” from the beginning in various advertising and marketing campaigns.

Inspiring Success Story of Kettle Donuts:

William Rosenberg gained creative ideas and experience in a factory where doughnuts and coffee, the most popular items, were sold together in a wide variety. Therefore, he decided to start his own restaurant company and, after many struggles, managed to open his first small-scale restaurant called “Open Kettle” in 1948. A year later, he changed the restaurant’s name to “Kettle Donuts”, and after another year, he adopted the name “Dunkin’ Donuts.”

In 1959, Dunkin’ Donuts expanded internationally, opening numerous franchises and restaurants around the world. The company also opened its first European branch in 1979. Over passing time, Rosenberg’s health declined due to bladder cancer, and he eventually passed away at the age of 86 on September 20, 2002. Currently, Nigel Travis serves as the chairman and CEO, while Paul Carbone holds the position of CFO. According to Wikipedia, the company’s global system-wide sales exceeded $6 billion in 2012.
